Current Price Ranges
Maryland cannabis prices have dropped 16% since recreational sales launched in July 2023. The average gram price fell from $9.29 at launch to $7.84 today, and competition continues to push prices down — especially in dispensary-dense markets like Baltimore (47 locations) and Frederick (11 locations).
| Product | Price Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Flower — Eighth (3.5g) | $25–60 | Budget $25–35, mid $35–45, premium $45–60 |
| Flower — Quarter (7g) | $45–100 | Best value per gram at this tier |
| Flower — Ounce (28g) | $180–360 | Deals frequently below $200 on budget strains |
| Concentrates | $45–70/gram | Live resin, wax, shatter, diamonds |
| Vape carts — half gram | $25–50 | Distillate cheaper, live resin premium |
| Vape carts — full gram | $40–75 | Better value than two halves |
| Edibles | $15–50 | 10mg/serving, 100mg/package maximum |
| Average item price | $28.90 | Still above national average, but falling |
All prices above are before the 12% tax. A $40 eighth becomes $44.80 at checkout. Medical patients pay $0 in tax.
Most Maryland dispensaries offer 20–25% off your first purchase. Liberty Cannabis offers 25%. Many others offer 20%. Ask at checkout — and consider visiting multiple dispensaries on your first trip to stack first-time discounts across different shops.
Product Categories & Market Share
Maryland’s product mix reflects a maturing market where flower still dominates but concentrates and edibles are gaining ground:
Flower — 59% of Sales
Flower remains king in Maryland. The state’s cultivators — CULTA, Evermore, SunMed, Curio Wellness, Grassroots, and others — produce a wide range of strains across indica, sativa, and hybrid categories. Maryland-grown flower has improved significantly since the medical program launched in 2017, with multiple cultivators now winning recognition in national competitions.
- CULTA: House-grown strains plus multi-brand selection, known for consistent quality
- Evermore: Premium cultivator, sold at The Living Room (Pikesville) and statewide
- SunMed: High-volume cultivator, competitive pricing, widely available
- Curio Wellness: Medical-focused cultivator with strong patient following
- Cookies: National brand with Maryland-specific genetics and Federal Hill retail
Concentrates & Vapes — 28% of Sales
The fastest-growing category in Maryland. Vape cartridges are the most popular format, driven by convenience and discretion. Live resin and live rosin products command premium prices but offer superior flavor and terpene profiles compared to distillate.
- Distillate carts: $25–40 (half gram), clean and potent but less flavorful
- Live resin carts: $35–50 (half gram), fuller flavor, more terpenes
- Concentrates (dabs): $45–70/gram for wax, shatter, live resin, or diamonds
Edibles — 12% of Sales
Maryland edibles follow standard US dosing: 10mg THC per serving, 100mg per package maximum for recreational customers. Medical patients may access higher-potency options. Gummies are the dominant format, followed by chocolates and mints.
- 10-pack gummies (100mg total): $20–40
- Chocolates: $15–35
- Mints & hard candies: $10–25
- Beverages: Emerging category, 5mg/serving typically $5–10 per can
Discounts & Deals
Maryland’s competitive dispensary market means aggressive pricing and promotions:
- First-time customer: 20–25% off at most dispensaries (some offer flat dollar discounts instead)
- Seniors (65+): 10–15% off at many locations
- Veterans & military: 10–20% off, widely available
- Students: 10% off at select dispensaries (valid student ID required)
- Daily deals: Many dispensaries run rotating daily specials — “Flower Friday,” “Wax Wednesday,” etc.
- Loyalty programs: Points-based rewards at most dispensaries, earn credits toward future purchases
- Happy hour: Some dispensaries offer time-based discounts during slower hours
The best strategy for value-conscious buyers: check multiple dispensary menus on Dutchie or Weedmaps, compare prices for the same products, and stack your first-time discount with any daily deals.
Medical vs. Recreational: The Tax Advantage
| Purchase | Rec Price (12% tax) | Medical Price (0% tax) | Savings |
|---|---|---|---|
| $35 eighth | $39.20 | $35.00 | $4.20 |
| $50 vape cart | $56.00 | $50.00 | $6.00 |
| $200 monthly spend | $224.00 | $200.00 | $24.00/mo ($288/yr) |
With telehealth medical certifications running $85–150 and state registration now free, the card pays for itself within 4–8 months for regular consumers. See Medical Program for how to get certified.
Delivery Options
Medical delivery is available statewide for registered patients:
- Gold Leaf (Annapolis) — EV delivery fleet, statewide coverage, $100 minimum order
- Green Goods — Free delivery on orders over $50
- The Living Room (Pikesville) — Evermore products delivered from their flagship location
Recreational delivery is not yet authorized in Maryland but is expected to be added as the market matures. For now, recreational customers must visit a dispensary in person or use curbside pickup.
For a typical first visit, budget $50–75 before tax (an eighth of flower + a vape cart or edible). Add 12% for tax ($56–84 total). Bring cash. Apply your first-time discount (20–25% off) to bring the after-tax total down to roughly $42–67. That is an excellent deal by mid-Atlantic standards.
